The kids will be asked, &#8220;What did you do this summer?&#8221; Our kids will be writing about Disneyland, stand-up paddle boarding (coming nose to whiskers with sea lions), and surfing in Southern California.<\/p>\n<p>We had a very full summer schedule at Stillwater and everyone was happy to get a long weekend in before the next round of projects. <a href=\"index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=119:michael-l-soares&amp;catid=39:about-pages&amp;Itemid=192\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Soares<\/a> instructed the State of Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources on <a href=\"index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=198:state-energy-assurance-plans&amp;catid=43:policy&amp;Itemid=198\" target=\"_blank\">transportation energy assurance planning<\/a>. <a href=\"index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=77:david-r-bulfin&amp;catid=39:about-pages&amp;Itemid=152\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Bulfin<\/a> guided a renewable fuels company to understand the fuel supply chain and how environmental regulations, like the Renewable Fuel Standard, are impacting the market. <a href=\"index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=95:leigh-noda&amp;catid=39:about-pages&amp;Itemid=169\" target=\"_blank\">Leigh Noda<\/a> was busy with supply and demand forecasts, as well as paying close attention to the development of the Low Carbon Fuel Standard and Cap &amp; Trade. Leigh and Kim Barrett developed crude oil and <a href=\"index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=82:energy-price-forecasts&amp;catid=45:economics&amp;Itemid=161\" target=\"_blank\">product price forecasts<\/a> for an electric utility and for a start-up technology company. <a href=\"index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=206:david-g-freyman&amp;catid=39:about-pages&amp;Itemid=199\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Freyman<\/a> spent time looking at crude-by-rail projects and their economics. <a href=\"index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=76:david-j-hackett&amp;catid=39:about-pages&amp;Itemid=151\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Hackett<\/a> has been providing litigation support to a client, while closely monitoring LCFS and RFS developments. The team continues to work with the RAND Corporation on its contract to audit the California Energy Commission&#8217;s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Program under AB118.<\/p>\n<p>Stillwater has been retained by the University of Calgary School of Public Policy to help with a study on LNG. There are a number of LNG projects proposed for the West Coast of Canada. This study will be similar to the <a href=\"..\/images\/stories\/oil%20market%20diversification%20potential%20for%20canada%202011%2012%2015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">work<\/a> we did for the School of Public Policy on crude oil.<\/p>\n<p>We watched developments in Hawaii this summer and wish our friends at Par Petroleum all the best with the marketing and refining business they bought from Tesoro.<\/p>\n<p>This fall the big policy issues we will be watching include the RFS, California&#8217;s LCFS, and LNG projects in both the lower 48 and in Canada.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"September 9, 2013 Well, the kids are back at school and we&#8217;re all back working away.
